We’re a collective of 12 (and growing) local filmmakers based here on the Surf Coast. We produce monthly 5–10 minute documentaries that bridge the gap between the things we love and the action we need.
The Formula: We make short films about local ocean lovers & sustainability innovators. We screen our film, bring in a local band, include themed art installations, and host a live Q&A. It’s not just a movie night; it’s a community party that inspires.
We’ve been running our nights at Bells Beach Brewery & every single event has sold out.
Beehives & Bottomturns (about local beekeper Tom from Coastal Nectar): Sold out.
All About Seaweed (about local seaweed farmers): Sold out.
Too Cold To Surf (a sustainable housing doco about heating & cooling): Sold out.
We don't lecture people on climate change. We use surf culture and local stories to make it something people actually want to talk about.
We bring the films, the bands, the art.
With our teammembers having worked up to 15 years in films, we ensure these are cinematic stories that do justice to our coast. We’re also training up new people on cameras & storytelling every year too.
We have a massive 2026 slate ready to go, including films on Zero-Waste Dining (local restaurant Sameson), generations of women on the surfcoast (with Women’s Boardriders Torquay), climate anxiety, sustainable surfboards with local shaper Corey Graham, and local wildlife with Wildlife Xposure. 2026 we’re going bigger & better. Can’t wait to see yall at our next film event.
